Building of Kaunas bus station hasn't been renovated for 80 years since it was opened. Reconstruction that started on 2015 took one and a half year and in 2017 new bus station was opened. Now it is the biggest as well as the most modern bus station in Lithuania. In the main building visitors can find not only new bus platforms and waiting area but also shopping center and cafes.
The minimalistic style, clear functional connections and synthesis with the surrounding environment have been chosen to reconstruct Kaunas bus station. The main accent of the building is the 10 meters high roofing over main entrance with a custom made watch delivered from Germany.
Since the main focus was to create long lasting and simple architectural solutions the same requirements were raised for building materials as well. Also one of the main focuses was fast construction process - that is why Peikko's solutions were selected by the developer.
